5 Months - Word for the Month - Grab
Masha is five months now and definitely seems to be out of the newborn stage and onto many new things. She is rolling both ways and spends lots of time playing on her tummy. It seems that she prefers to play on her tummy or sitting up. And speaking of sitting up, she is gaining such great balance and can hold her own in an upright position for a few seconds before maneuvering back onto her tummy. She is also standing up with little support from us (just holding her hands) for a few seconds. It's amazing how quickly they develop new skills.
Masha has been interested in our food and watching us eat with intent so we tried rice cereal yesterday mixed with breast milk (mostly breast milk). I think this kid is going to be a good eater. She grabbed the spoon each time and tried to help though most of it ran down her chin. Thank goodness for all the bibs we received as gifts!
Masha laughs on a regular basis. She's ticklish but doesn't really like to be tickled (who does?). Last week she laughed at dad saying the word "unfathomable". And she laughs at my silly nonsense songs (I wonder where I got that from, Buni). She also loves to look at her clothes in her closet.
She is grabbing everything and anything she can get her hands on and is starting to recognize objects for what they are. Tonight she had a bath and we use an extra Medela bottle to pour water over her head, etc. She likes to play with the bottle in the tub usually but tonight tried to drink from it and was very frustrated to find that there was no milk in the bottle. I guess we'll find a new item for rinsing soon.
Lately she doesn't like to be put down and wants to be held around the clock. She even protests being put down for diaper changes. I'm sure it's just a phase.
